This year, Christmas morning came early for some BEDS Plus clients.
Wrapped presents were stacked on tables, too many to fit under a tree. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, baked goods and more tempted and then filled hungry stomachs. Spirits were festive, and big smiles could be seen on faces from the youngest child to the oldest adult in attendance.
The Chicago Teamsters Local 705 and Sierra Investment Partners, Inc. sponsored the "Christmas Morning" celebration that treated BEDS clients to a catered breakfast, entertainment and presents in an effort to let them eat, drink and be merry. Santa and Frosty the Snowman stopped by the event, talking with children, posing for photos and spreading holiday cheer.
Page's Restaurant in Hinsdale donated and served food at the event alongside teamsters volunteers. More than $8,500 worth of gifts were donated for the event. Build-A-Bear stuffed animals were donated by State Farm and John Schroeder along with wooden cars and other items. Children and adults alike took part in holiday-themed crafts and other activities.
The celebration was a chance for BEDS clients to relax and enjoy the holiday season without worry for a few hours. Santa and his elves made sure those who came went home with Christmas gifts from their lists, making the holidays a little brighter this year.
