We are pleased to introduce Dave McCarty as a new member of the BEDS Plus Board. Dave, a 40-year resident of LaGrange, has long been aware of BEDS Plus's presence in the community. His understanding grew during his tenure as a village trustee, where he gained a deeper appreciation for the extent of our programs.
Dave's personal connection was strengthened as a father of a former client. Through this experience, Dave witnessed firsthand the positive impact BEDS Plus is making and the critical need they address in our community.
"BEDS isn’t just about the unhoused; it is outreach for people that need help – at almost any level and for those who need it the most," Dave emphasized. "They have clearly identified populations that need assistance, and they are delivering the right kind of help to them that makes a difference and can change lives pretty quickly."
Driven by his belief in the transformative power of community support and the effective work of BEDS Plus, Dave was inspired to join our board. His unique experience as an architect in managing supportive housing facilities and navigating zoning approvals will be instrumental as we continue to expand our mission.
"I think it is fascinating how effectively BEDS Plus have woven themselves into the community fabric. They are here to help heal. They are fixing the fabric as opposed to just patching it," Dave remarked.
Dave also recognizes BEDS Plus's proactive approach in preventing homelessness, such as addressing root causes like medical emergencies. "BEDS has identified that preventing homelessness is a key component rather than just helping the homeless," Dave noted. "They are stepping up to ensure that medical care and support systems are in place to prevent these crises from leading to homelessness."
Please join us in welcoming Dave McCarty to BEDS Plus, where his dedication and unique insights, shaped by his longstanding community involvement, will contribute significantly to our efforts in supporting vulnerable populations and preventing homelessness.
