Please join us for a virtual Homeless Persons' Memorial service organized by Grace Lutheran Church of La Grange. Held on All Saints' Day, the service features a short sermon and acknowledgement of those who died last year while homeless or in our program. This is the second annual memorial service organized by the church in memory of the homeless who have passed.
Pastor Leland Albright, Grace Lutheran Church Minister of Caring and BEDS Plus chaplain, said the homeless are far more than those we see walking the street. Last year, Grace Lutheran Church held a service in memory of BEDS client Joan, known to many as the lady in the red coat. Pastor Leland said Joan did not fear dying but that the one thing she wanted more than anything was a home.
"Homeless people are so often ostracized, judged as being solely responsible for the condition their lives are in and stereotyped as being nothing more than the portion of their lives that we see when that is so untrue," he said.
We hope you will join us for this pre-recorded service as we grieve and also give thanks.
