Hope Covenant Church opens first homeless shelter in Orland Park in decades

The first homeless shelter in Orland Park in more than 30 years is opening at Hope Covenant Church, 14401 West Ave. Hope Covenant Church is offering emergency overnight shelter Tuesday nights through May as part of our winter shelter program.

About 15 to 20 people attended emergency overnight shelter at the church on Oct. 1, the first night of the winter shelter program.

Hope Pastor Jon Fogel said those experiencing homelessness have come to the church on a weekly basis. He told The Patch that the homeless population in Orland Park continues to grow and is already at a higher number than most would think.
