Based in our Worth office, Mario Avila oversees our South Suburban emergency overnight shelters, daytime support center, and street outreach. He works closely with clients who are struggling with substance abuse, which can cause homelessness, be caused by homelessness, and be made worse by homelessness. Mario joined BEDS in 2017 as a case manager.
He completed his Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor internship with Footprints to Recovery in Arlington Heights and previously volunteered with South Suburban PADS in Worth, the Haymarket Center in Chicago, and the Gateway Foundation Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center in Chicago.
Mario holds an Associate’s Degree in Addiction Studies from Moraine Valley Community College and is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).
“Helping people experiencing homelessness is an honor and a privilege.“
