Permanent Supportive Housing offers agency-managed apartments to clients with a history of chronic homelessness and disability.  BEDS has a rolling stock of 50 supportive housing units, including 30 scattered site units and 20 in the purpose-built Ogden Avenue Supportive Housing facility.  The BEDS Permanent Supportive Housing program serves highly vulnerable people with a history of chronic homelessness, physical and mental disabilities, and serious health conditions.

Supportive housing residents receive housing and supportive care for as long as they need, with the goal of becoming more self-sufficient and able to qualify for independent living options.

BEDS scattered site units are one, two or three bedroom apartments for an individual or family.  Ogden Avenue Supportive Housing units are 450 Sq. Ft. studio apartments with a private bathroom, kitchenette and living area.  All supportive housing tenants sign an annual lease that requires them to pay 30 percent of their income towards rent; the remainder is covered by a variety of public and private sources.

Currently, BEDS Plus has several Housing Authority of Cook County (HACC) vouchers in addition to its rolling stock.

Achieving the Dream: Ogden Avenue Supportive Housing

The day residents moved into Ogden Avenue Supportive Housing — April 21, 2018 — was a milestone achievement for BEDS Plus Care.  After more than five years of planning and overcoming a variety of challenges, the dream of owning a single-site facility built with the purpose of providing supportive housing became a reality.

On February 28, 2018 long time faith partners, volunteers, citizen activists, and so many others who have stood with BEDS Plus throughout our 30-year history gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Ogden Avenue Supportive Housing would not be possible without the generous support of many:
