Ribbon Cutting & Open House
Details about the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House HERE. In partnership with the Village of Summit, BEDS Plus and NAMI Metro Suburban will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, December 15, to celebrate two new community resources coming to Summit. The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 3:00pm and tours of each facility will last until 6:00pm. Each non-profit organization will be launching services that foster health and well-being in the area.
The BEDS Plus Linda Sokol Francis Summit Service Center will have 24-hour staffing, 7 days a week, and will provide interim housing for medically vulnerable homeless adults, allowing them to live with dignity while they stabilize and qualify for permanent housing. Wrap-around services will include intensive case management and onsite access to medical care including behavioral healthcare.
NAMI Metro Suburban received funding to expand their existing Individual Placement and Support (IPS) employment program into Summit, Illinois, and surrounding community areas. The program is anchored by NAMI’s Summit Living Room, and the newly expanded IPS program will work with both adults and transitional youth (ages 18-24), in the Summit, Berwyn, Justice, and Cicero communities. IPS is an evidence-based program developed to help promote recovery through employment and education for people living with a mental illness. IPS provides supports to achieve steady, meaningful employment in mainstream competitive jobs.
Anticipated to speak at 3:00pm are the following: Summit Mayor Sergio Rodriguez; Kimberly Knake, Executive Director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness Metro Suburban Chapter; Tina Rounds, CEO of BEDS Plus Care; Greg DiDomenico, President & CEO of Community Memorial Foundation; Toni Preckwinkle, President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
