Helping people experiencing homelessness with serious medical conditions heal

People experiencing homelessness with serious medical conditions risk worsening their conditions and developing new injuries and illnesses. At the same time, they face steep barriers to healthcare.

Our Respite Program

In March 2023, BEDS Plus began accepting clients in the newly opened Linda Sokol Francis Summit Service Center. The Center has 18 beds for people experiencing homelessness with serious medical conditions.

The Summit Service Center offers acute and post-acute medical care for homeless persons who are too ill or vulnerable to recover from a physical illness or injury on the streets, but do not qualify for further hospitalization, rehabilitation services or nursing home care.

Welcoming patients with the following needs: Wound care; use of crutches or wheelchairs or walkers; and PICC line medical care.

Not able to take: two-person transfers; wound vacs; those needing assistance with ADLs; unmanaged severe mental health needs; and those with a history of violent behavior.

Also offering:

• On-site weekly medical care
• Coordination with external healthcare providers
