Housing alone doesn’t end homelessness
People who come to BEDS Plus come for a variety of reasons and from a multitude of situations. Some are seniors who can no longer afford their housing, and others are single-parent, female-headed families escaping domestic violence. Some are simply looking for respite from the elements in an overnight shelter, and others want to find their way back into housing. They are every age, race and ethnicity, with differing abilities.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution for homelessness. That’s why BEDS Plus case management is personalized to address the needs and meet the goals of each individual client.
Our clients need everything from food, medicine, shoes and clothing; to help gathering all the documentation required to qualify for housing assistance — a challenge for people without a permanent address who have lost track of their birth certificates, Social Security cards, drivers licenses and other forms of ID; to injection of cash to avoid immediate eviction, to locating an apartment, moving in and setting up a household. Case managers help clients with all this and so much more.
In addition to service connections and referrals, BEDS has developed its own programs to respond to common client needs.
